Consultation
One popular service that Three House Publishing provides is manuscript consultation. We offer this service as a form of assistance to those writers who would like to have skilled professionals evaluate their work.
The writer must submit the manuscript with a check for the fee and a cover letter in which he/she makes a formal request for an evaluation. Once we receive the manuscript, a member of our review staff will read the text and write a report that will be returned to the writer along with the manuscript and a receipt.
Consultation Fee
Three House Publishing charges a fee for consulting. The fee is $3.50 per page. The total payment for manuscript consultation must arrive with the manuscript or the manuscript will be returned or discarded. Checks or money orders should be made out to Three House Publishing. Please do not send cash.
Submissions
Three House Publishing produces relatively few, quality titles each year. We specialize in publishing instructional materials for teachers. Three House Publishing does not publish instructional materials that are not the original creations of teachers.
We also publish novels and short story collections. Three House Publishing does not publish poetry. We do not publish children's books or genre fiction, romance, mysteries, etc.
Submission Guidelines for custom published workbooks, sourcebooks, course guides, and course materials
Always query first. Unsolicited manuscripts are not accepted. A representative from our Acquisitions Staff will respond to query letters within five weeks.
In the query, teachers must provide information on their educational background, their work history, their home institution, and the student population the institution serves. The teacher must explain how and why he/she designed the text and how it will improve student learning. Most manuscripts are rejected because they lack the comprehensiveness that warrants the material being produced in book form.
If one is asked to submit a manuscript, he/she should send the entire text with a cover letter.
- Manuscripts must be sent by mail.
- Manuscripts must be accompanied by a cover letter.
- Manuscripts without proper return postage will be discarded.
- Manuscripts should be neat and typed.
- Manuscripts should range from 100 to 200 pages.
- Photocopies are sufficient. Do not send the original manuscript.
- Please do not call us about the status of your manuscript.
- The review process takes about 3 to 4 months.
Submission Guidelines for fiction
Always query first. Unsolicited manuscripts are not accepted. A representative from our Acquisitions Staff will respond to query letters within five weeks.
In the query, writers must provide some autobiographical information and a brief list of prior publications, if there are any. The writer needs to explain how his/her novel or short story collection uniquely addresses topics or themes that are of relevance to a well-defined audience. We want fiction that is innovative, entertaining, and marketable. Most manuscripts are rejected because they are not marketable.
If one is asked to submit a manuscript, he/she should send a 50 page sample with a cover letter. Novel & Short Story Writer's Market offers instructions on how to properly write cover letters and format manuscript submissions.
