About the Author

KATHRYN T. HEGEMAN earned doctorate from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. For more than twenty years she has worked with children of all ability
levels in the elementary grades and has designed and implemented programs for gifted and talented students.

Dr. Hegeman has conducted many teacher training workshops and is a noted lecturer, consultant and parent educator. She is the author of more than two dozen publications in the field of education.

Mind Your Manners: A Social Skills Guide for Children is the outgrowth of her extensive experience and research into the social, emotional and intellectual aspects of child development. Dr. Hegeman and her husband Andrew live on Long Island. They have five children and five grandchildren.

MARK HEGEMAN is an artist who wears many hats. The second of Kathryn and Andrew Hegeman’s five children, he is a graduate of Georgetown University and Georgetown Dental School. Much to the delight of his patients, Dr. Hegeman’s office in Chevy Chase, Maryland reflects his artistry. Mark Hegeman works in many media. In collaboration with Kathryn Hegeman, he has illustrated more than a dozen books and other learning materials for children.
