Ernie Berry, author of
Tried, Tested & Being Approved
Although a gifted motivational speaker, Ernie Berry never had the desire to write a book, until now. In his new book, Tried Tested & Being Approved, he speaks candidly of the physical, psychological, and emotional issues involved in living with and overcoming two acute debilitating handicaps and tells of a lifetime of goals and success despite an unusual level of adversity.
By the age of twenty-four, Ernie Berry has achieved more than most adults. He has read more than 2,500 books, won chess tournaments, placed in weightlifting competitions, hosted a radio talk show, worked in Washington, DC, graduated with a master's degree, and earned two postgraduate certificates. But Ernie does not take all the credit for his susccess. "I can unequivocally affirm that if the revelations of a real relationship with the Trinity of the Bible had not been instilled in me at an early age," he says, "I would not have had the motivation, determination and perseverance to achieve all that I have. My conditions are also motivating factors in my personal success, and I encourage others to live life to the fullest."
Ernie's story is an account in which reality is truly stranger and more exciting than fiction. "My book teaches serious, pertinant life lessons with humor laced throught," he explains. In his book, Ernie describes in vivid detail what it is like living with blindness and a painful neurological deficiency, and walks the reader through his life's story, explaining the motivating factors driving him to achieve great things.
Tried Tested & Being Approved combines the different obstables Ernie has faced throught his life with humor and inspiration. "Different people, especially kids, have been labeled by society," he says. "My purpose is to inspire and and enlighten people in a similar situation. This book is intended to inspire, encourage, and edify readers in all situations by relaying the message that overwhelming success can be achieved when people are driven by goals and dreams that they cannot achieve through their own efforts."
Ernie’s graduation with multiple advanced degrees and reading of numerous books supplements his ability to appeal and communicate with audiences on a multitude of topics. "The book is written with an intellectual, college-level, vocabulary but is an easy read," says Ernie. "I have read so much terrible literature that I do not want to contribute to the ever-growing meaningless texts. Rather than engaging in a mere academic exercise, I wish to articulate the experiences which I have endured which have imparted far greater wisdom in my life than the thousands of books that I have read and digested in pursuit thereof."
Ernie currently works of the City of Toledo. He continues to give inspirational and motivational talks to churches and schools.
