In the April Author Spotlight,
Argyris Calbaris, author of
Nothing is Ever Lost

Imagine having a dream so intense and unusual that it gives you chills. Then imagine having that same dream over and over until it becomes a vision. A dream such as this led author Argyris Calbaris to write his new book, Nothing is Ever Lost.

When Argyris decided to write this specific book, he had already written four other books. "One night during my sleep I saw for the first time a late friend of mine who at that point had passed away twenty years previously," he explains. "He was holding a book in his hand and was smiling at me.  Soon he vanished and that particular dream ended this way.  When I woke up the following morning I did not attach much importance to the dream."

Three days went by and then, low and behold, Argyris dreamed of this friend again. saw this same friend of mine in my sleep again. "This time the set-up was different as I was inside a bookstore searching through book-selves in an effort to identify books on a particular subject matter," he says. "Suddenly my friend re-appeared in the same fashion as in my previous dream.  I was astounded at this second encounter and so I walked in his direction and touched him on his shoulder.  He turned around and gave me a blank stare while at the same time smiling at me."

In his dream, Argyris decided to talk to him and asked him how it was that although he had died twenty years ago he had returned on that particular occasion.  “I have died for your well being down on Earth”, was his reply.  He smiled at Argyris again and then walked out of the bookstore and vanished into thin air amongst the crowd. The following night, Argyris had an equally moving dream that prompted him to write Nothing is Ever Lost.

During his writing, had many questions about the beliefs of the different religions and their followers. "I made a conscious effort to enrich my knowledge on these religions," he explains. "This was the relatively easy part of my study. Where the bigger questions arose in my mind, however, had to do with where it was that “non-believers” ended up “going”.  A voice from within me gave me an answer which I found satisfying."

Argyris' communication with people and other personalities who have left Earth long ago approach the area of the supernatural. Also dialogues and events come to surface, the ones which prevailed in life in the past to prove to us, in their own way, that in the end, nothing is ever lost.

Argyris has been married for forty years and has four children and five grandchildren.  When not writing, he reads a lot and like to go to the movies. Two additional books of Argyris' are being translated into English, “The Voracious” and “A Penny and a Slap”, a recollection of his childhood years during World War II.  A third book (a mystery) is also in the works.
