Susan de la Vergne ,
Author of
You Can't Manage Time
But You Can Manage Many Priorities
Today, after a 25 year career in technology management, Susan de la Vergne is a writer, instructor and professional speaker who helps engineering and high tech professionals deliver their best. In her new book, You Can't Manage Time, she uses a combination of personal experience and industry-leading research in this fresh approach to managing many priorities.
"There's no such thing as 'time management.' You can't manage time. You can't make it last longer or spend it faster than it comes to you," Susan explains. "You can't save it up for later when you need more. It simply proceeds as it always has, uninterrupted, and all you can do is live within it."
You Can't Manage Time is a guide for overwhelmed professionals trying to do their best to get it all done. But the way to do it isn't by managing time. Instead, it’s by managing yourself - your creativity, your energy, your communication. "That's the point of the book. More than a mere how-to, it's a book of encouragement and practical advice: You can manage many priorities, and here's how," she says.
After helping people through organizational challenges, her next great love is writing, and Business Communications is a special area of focus and expertise. Her keynote speeches and published articles on management and leadership are aimed at infusing today’s professionals with a renewed sense of purpose and confidence about themselves on the job. She is currently writing a new book, “When All Else Fails: Using Emotional Intelligence on Critical Business Projects.”
