The Complete Guide to Girls' Basketball

Mike Mullaney, author of The Complete Guide to Girls' Basketball , has coached hundreds of girls’ basketball games. His teams have consistently won league championships, tournaments and finished in the final four in the AAU Potomac Valley Region (Division II). You could say he knows a little bit about the game.

Mike began his love of basketball early in life. He attended Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville, Florida, where he was named Most Valuable Player for the 1973-1974 season and was named to the All-City Basketball Team as a point guard. Mike was also awarded the 1974 John Burke Award for being the top student-athlete in the school.

The Complete Guide to Girls’ Basketball is over 400 pages and is like no other book. It has hundreds of drills and diagrams and top-notch action photographs, and humorous sports quotes. A professional sports photographer with over 10 years experience took the game condition photos. A graphics designer developed the layout with the reader in mind. A highly qualified individual was the editor. "In many ways the book is a tribute to parents and girls," Mullaney says.

"I wanted to write the best basketball book on the market. I believe that there is a need for coaches and parents to learn how to teach basketball to girls and young women since, today, there are as many girls playing organized basketball as boys." says Mullaney. "I love to teach and write and feel that girls (and their parents) deserve to have a book they can be proud of, is comprehensive and shows how well girls/young women can play the game."

"Most basketball books are full of information but are, quite frankly, boring to read," says Mullaney. "I wanted to create a new type of book with the reader in mind. The Complete Guide to Girls’ Basketball is different in that the explanations are clear and engaging and explain how the game can be taught and played in a manner that makes it interesting to the reader. The Complete Guide, more than any other basketball book I have read, attempts to engage the reader. The quotes are designed to help people enjoy reading the book and serve as reminders to enjoy the game."

Mike has been married to his wife, Sue, for over 20 years. They have two wonderful daughters, Melissa and Michele, both of whom are featured on the cover of his book.
