Freedom of choice is a gift of God’s limitless love that expects the best of each and every one of us. The choice is always between the power of love and the love of power.  In his new book, How to Work with CHANGE Since No One Can Stop It, Dr. John Piper hopes to awaken people and explore this Gift of Grace in its highest sense – the supreme worth and dignity of every person.

"Basically, we all need to know what kind of God we serve. This is what this book is all about, " Dr. Piper explains. "I am a realist to the best of my ability rather than a conservative or a liberal. We all believe in God, but we don’t know what kind of god God is. I covered that in my book."

One of Dr. Piper's basic assumptions in his book is that everybody has a religion, whether they admit to it or not. "Everyone has some kind of ultimate belief or 'god'” and no matter how much they think they don’t, they do. They call it spiritualism or all sorts of things. Basically it's God's love that makes us free to be responsible. And if we chose the wrong thing, well so did Adam and Eve."

The theme throughout the book is that ‘Working with Change’ mandates freedom of choice. "It’s not 'pay your nickel and make your choice',” Dr. Piper says. "We are to take our choices seriously. Attitude matters. It reflects one’s values. We are losing our freedoms in ways, especially our freedom of choice and we don't even know it's happening."

His definition of evil in his book is 'the perversion of the good' and overcoming evil with good is the only way people are going to defeat evil.  Dr. Piper explains, "There’s no way we can stay out of war because of evil, because evil won't stop. Everyone hates war."

Dr. Piper has been married for 54 years and has 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. when not writing, he enjoys spending time on his computer, playing Free-Cell and other card games and answering email. "I’m being taken care of – I enjoy family.  I believe in people," he says.
