In the early years, we received hard-copy manuscripts. We coded and keyed the text into professional typography and then cut-and-pasted type on boards, producing a finished product. Entering the 1980’s, we began to see more publishers able to provide copy on disk and BookMasters updated its equipment, allowing our system to paginate books electronically.
By 1984, we realized the need for full-service composition within the industry.
In doing so, we now recognize that our project management, design/layout, editorial, and art creation/manipulation capabilities allows us the opportunity to use our skilled experts and state-of-the-art technology to their highest levels. In addition, it has given us a broader understanding of the publishers’ role in the bookmaking process, giving us the ability to meet their needs and concerns, which has enabled us to offer the finest, most comprehensive publishing services. By producing high-quality editorial, design and disk-to-printer composition, this has allowed us to become a supplier to some of the world’s largest college textbook publishers, university presses and trade book customers.

Using new procedures and programming, we now create books in such a manner that allows the publisher flexibility in choosing the method of publication they wish to use such as a printed volume, CD ROM, web, or e-book edition. With these new procedures, revisions and updates can be made quickly and inexpensively allowing the publisher the opportunity to provide the educational market with the most recent and accurate information.
