About the Authors

Marcia Angell, M. D., is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She stepped down as Editor-in-Chief of the New England Journal of Medicine on June 30, 2000. A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, she trained in both internal medicine and anatomic pathology and is a board-certified pathologist. She joined the editorial staff of the New England Journal of Medicine in 1979, became Executive Editor in 1988, and Editor-in-Chief in 1999. Dr. Angell is a member of the Association of American Physicians, the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of the Sciences, the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society, and is a Master of the American College of Physicians. In 1997, Time magazine named Marcia Angell one of the 25 most influential Americans.

Martha Baldwin Beveridge, MSSW, has been in private practice as a psychotherapist for more than 25 years, gives therapy workshops around the country and for ten years was host of a weekly call-in radio therapy show. Ms. Beveridge has also been a guest on: Sally Jesse Raphael, Donahue, Geraldo, Tom Snyder and Sonya Live.

Don Colbert, M.D., a board-certified family practitioner since 1987, is the author of a number of bestsellers. He developed his own vitamine line, Divine Health Nutritional Products, and hosts a national talk show with his wife: Your Health Matters. He regularly speaks at national seminars on ttopics such as: The Dangers of Stress and The Seven Pillars of Health.

Roger Daniel is a retired engineer with two grown children. He writes with the carefulness and clarity typical to a man of his profession. He has been writing for younger people for over 50 years, and has a number of books published by Believers Bookshelf and sold in many countries.

Gerald H. Elbers worked as missionary in Surinam for 10 years (1983-1993). Beside preaching the Gospel to old and young alike, he devoted a good part of his time to teaching Bible courses and conducting Bible studies, in an effort to give Bible-based help to Christians and to arm them for the ongoing battle. In April, Gerard Elbers was called home; his battle was over.

Leslie M. Grant came to know the Lord as his Savior at the age of 17, through a near-drowning experience. His early adult years were spent working for an optometrist, where he continued until the age of 25. At that time, he was called of the Lord to full-time service for Him. After his calling, he spent much time in reading and studying the Word, and in going from farm to farm riding his bike in the Peace River region of Northern Alberta. Ger de Koning - By his grace the author has know the Lord for more than 40 years. After his conversion he got a strong desire to read the Word of God. Judith Shaw is the author of Raising Low-Fat Kids in a High-Fat World. She was the Educational Director of The Family Institute of Berkeley in Berkeley, California, for twenty-five years. Her work includes helping families and individuals with diatary and health issues.

Gene Spiller has an M.S. and a Ph.D. in nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley, and is a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), a fellow of the American College of Nutrition, and a member of other professional societies. From 1982 to 2001, he edited three editions of the CRC Handbook of Fiber in Human Nutrition, and he has also authored books on nutrition for general audiences. He founded and is director of the Sphera Foundation and the Health Research and Studies Center.

Monica Spiller taught high school chemistry in England before coming to San Francisco as an analytical chemist in pharmaceuticals. Since 1982, she has focused on ways to produce appealing wholegrain foods, in the process founding a company to promote the production of wholegrain bread and a non-profit organization, Whole Grain Connection, to further research and education.

Charles Stanley is senior pastor of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, composed of 15,000 members. Founder of In Touch Ministries, Dr Stanley is internationally-renowned for is radio and television programs. He is the author of many books.

Excellent Bible teacher and expositor, Grant Steidl worked for a while as a full-time missionary, serving his Lord in Jamaica. Before his death in an unfortunate car accident, Grant had written other books and several articles through which he helped so many Christians in their daily lives in such a practical way.

Ray D. Strand, M.D., graduated from the University of Colorado Medical School and finished his post-graduate training at Mercy Hospital in San Diego, California. He has been involved in an active private family practice for the past thirty years, and has focused his practice on nutritional medicine over the past seven years while lecturing internationally on the subject. Dr. Strand lives on a horse ranch in South Dakota with his lovely wife, Elizabeth. They have three grown children.

Shawn Talbott, PH.D., FACSM, is trained in sports medicine, health management, exercise physiology and nutritional biochemistry. He is an associate clinical professor in nutrition at the University of Utah, a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dietary Supplements (for health professionals) and Supplement Watch (for consumers).

Andrew Tutino, D.C., gradujated from the Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. He has been in practice for fifteen years at the Delta Chiropractic Clinic and at the Optimum Health Institute, both in San Diego, California. He lectures frequently on the topics of natural detoxification, weight loss, and stress reduction.

Dr. Wilson has helped hundreds of people with adrenal fatigue regain their health and vitality during his 24 years of private practice.
