Opening
Minds:
A Journey of Extraordinary Encounters,
Crop Circles, and Resonance
by Simeon Hein, Ph.D.
A
Social Scientist's Inquiry
Opening Minds
is about a social scientist's voyage into the world of
non-ordinary, multi-dimensional energy phenomena. The
book is both an examination of the limited belief
systems intrinsic to existing mechanistic worldviews and
an exploration into the promises of emerging new
paradigms based on subtle energy sciences.
A
Mechanistic World-View
It begins by
discussing the historical conditions that led to the
ascendancy of the reductionist-mechanistic world-view of
Descartes and Newton. The author looks at how those
ideas have become embodied in modern time-control
systems and information technology. The author contends
that these technological constructs have constrained our
ability to experience a deeper connection with our
bodies, spirits, and the larger cosmos. Rather than
looking into our belief systems we tend to become
increasingly dependent on brittle, external technologies
to solve our problems.
Alternative
Perspectives
However, these
inflexible and mechanistic procedures often just make
our lives more complicated and hectic. The author
presents some alternative perspectives based on modern
physics and quantum theory that may alleviate some of
these dilemmas. These recently formulated world-views
offer another way of conceptualizing our relationship to
our universe. Nature already offers simple and intuitive
ways of accessing energy and information through the
principle of resonance: a quality that is fundamental to
our bodies and minds.
Scientifically
Plausible "Magic"
Resonance is a
physical state whereby the frequencies of different
people, objects, or places come into coherency. Using
real-life examples, the book describes the impact of
resonance in everyday people's lives. Resonance allows
information and energy to spontaneously move from one
place to another creating a host of traditionally
unexplainable effects. Recent developments in quantum
physics, however, show how some of these apparently
"magical" effects are scientifically
plausible. Newly discovered subtle energy sciences such
as resonant viewing show, however, that our life
experience of it can be considerably more expansive,
boundless and spontaneous than we have been taught to
believe.
Rediscovering
Our Innate Abilities
Opening Minds
shows us how to harness these abilities to recreate
magic. It encourages us to rediscover our innate,
natural abilities while hinting at our connection with
other intelligence in the universe. The author details
his own and others' personal experiences with crop
circles, resonant viewing, channeling, and
extraterrestrials.
The
Accessible Strange World
Perhaps the
book's boldest idea is to assert that this strange world
is available and accessible to everyone if they are
merely willing to experience it. The author suggests
that we are heading into a new paradigm characterized by
experiences with phenomena that challenge our existing
world views, yet also offer us a new vision of hope and
evolution for humankind and our planet.
