Articulated in precise prose and demonstrated in poetry, Love and Knowledge clearly links psychotherapy with the art of living. Our struggles with guilt and loss, our yearnings for love and our ambivalence towards truth and discovery are placed at the center of each person's quest for meaning.
During his thirty-five-year career in social work, James Donnelly, DSW, LCSW, has held clinical, supervisory, and administrative social work positions in both medical and mental health settings. He has been the director of social work at Goldwater Memorial Hospital and Terence Cardinal Cooke Health Care Center, both in New York City. He has been president of the Metropolitan New York chapter of the Society for Social Work Leaders in Health Care and is a member of the NASW Pioneers. He is the author of Love and Knowledge: The Quest for Personal Meaning, a book about psychotherapy and the art of living, and Soundings: Explorations of Social Work in a Changing Health Care Environment. Donnelly maintains a psychotherapy practice in New York City.
