About POTENTIAL

POTENTIAL is a story based on the premise that generally Blacks are predispose to enslave themselves and America suffers from the racism that accompanies this behavior. The author indirectly suggests perhaps just as the gangster rap music of the 1990’s may have blurred the line between reality and art, so too does the comedy high jinks projection made by many of the Black performers of today call into question whether or not art is imitating life or vice versa. After reading this book, one may also question whether the overpopulated, highly Black inhabited thriving city of Atlanta is of an accidental phenomenon, and if phenomenal growth of the immensely wide open city of Las Vegas is coincidental. The author sheds light on how although he may have experienced personal growth, it is suspect as to whether or not those around him even knew what had hit them. How this apparent obliviousness in the people of this region to the transformation taking place around this area apparently turned this once economically vibrant community into a financially strapped and depressed domain. The story is showcased in such a way so as to be an educational vehicle for presenting a counter balance for much of the glitzy mind candy so prevalent today solely for entertainment value. Although there is a great deal of mention made of entertainment elements, it is not done to attack the entertainment industry, but to instead include it in a positive big-picture.

About the Author

The author was raised as a poor Black youth in a federal housing authority project apartment during the racially turbulent 1950’s in America. After going years of lacking the wherewithal to seize control of his fate, he went on to adapt to, and use, the gutter in order to stay out of the gutter. Along the way, he went on to find his purpose within the complex and evolving society of the late 1990’s.
