Inside QUICKENED

This book compares our physical bodies with the biblical description of the universal church as the spiritual Body of Christ, and recommends behaviors that promote health and wellness.  The message is that the QUICKENED Human Spirit is enthusiastic, excitable, active and motivated, responding and connecting to God.  The QUICKENED soul is focused and content, making appropriate decisions for the well being of the spirit and body.  The QUICKENED body is one that is disciplined by the spirit and soul, functioning in an optimal state of health and wellness.

Each chapter of the book has one page of anatomy/physiology facts, several pages of biblical correlations, followed by a few pages of pathology, then health and wellness facts.  It consists of twelve chapters, beginning with the cell as the basic unit of structure of the human body compared to individual believers as the basic unit of structure in the body of Christ.  In the next chapter, blood is to the human body what the word God is to the Spirit and soul of believers and subsequently the Body of Christ, supplying nourishment and potential for growth.  The universal church comes alive in the next ten chapters as basic facts about body systems are aligned with spiritual principles, expounding God’s plan for the church and describing internal operations of the church that are sometimes misunderstood.

This original concept provides a three dimensional insight into the human spirit, soul and body.  The comparison of our physical bodies with the Body of Christ takes the reader from a familiar comfortable topic to one that is less familiar.  It forms mental associations between basic concepts about our physical bodies with emotional and spiritual concepts.  It personalizes the need for physical, emotional and spiritual growth, emphasizing that since our physical bodies are dependent on each cell functioning at its optimal level, so the universal church is dependent on each of us functioning at an optimal spiritual level.  The onus for quality and fulfillment in this world and in the spiritual body of Christ (the church) is on the individual.

Reviews

"I am elated that God inspired Stephanie Hughes to put such a document together that parallels physical anatomy with the spiritual Body of Christ.  She has used her insight as an RN to make it clear through the scriptures what the Bible says regarding “Many members but one body,” and I applaud her in this undertaking.  I now have greater insight to preach about the Body of Christ, as will all ministers who read this book.  It will be a blessing to people in leadership positions and every person who reads it.  God bless eternally."
George W. Price, Jr., Presiding Prelate, Original Church of God.
