As a youth, Ken desired so many of the things ordinary people seek in their hopes of having more fulfilling lives. He persevered through adversities as a youth, surviving on his parent’s undying faith in God, even though he understood so very little about their faith.

So many people hear of or read about how the poor struggle to survive, while wondering where their next meal will come from. At the youthful age of twelve, Ken experienced this scenario firsthand when his father was laid up at home recovering from a hernia operation. The family had no money to buy food, and his father was not healthy enough to work the farm. That episode afforded Ken an opportunity to see his father’s faith in God exercised, prayers for physical needs answered, and to instill in him a developing curiosity about God and faith. That curiosity led Ken to accept Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior seven years later and the rest is history. This book tells what God taught Ken and where God took him after his life-changing salvation.

To the Glory of God encourages believers to unite their many gifts and talents to do the work of God. Ken Washington, the oldest of nine children, was born in Thomasville, Georgia and raised in the projects of southern Georgia and the outskirts of the Norias Plantation in northern Florida. After more than twenty-six years of service to his country, Ken recently retired from the United States Army at the highest enlisted grade. He served in every imaginable leadership position, culminating as a senior Human Resource policy advisor to leaders at the Pentagon (2001). He is the recipient of the Legion of Merit, one of the highest awards given to a soldier in peacetime.

Ken is currently a policy writer for the Department of the Defense and highly sought speaker at transformation conferences. He is the founder and president of AmazingGrace-Books Limited. This aspiring writer's many goals include the establishment of a foundation to assist with college tuition for young people and food baskets and clothing for the poor. Ken is committed to doing his part in making a difference in the lives of children who are in need in a similar manner that he is all too familiar with. In addition to writing more than twenty compositions, he hopes to conduct seminars to appraise other aspiring writers and authors of the simple, but dedicated process of becoming a published author. He hopes to encourage others to enjoy and pursue the art of writing. Ken is a graduate of Park University in Parkville Missouri. He currently lives in Lorton, Virginia with his wife Shervandalin, and their daughter Latysha, who attends Virginia Tech.
