About the Author

Meet Seattle Sutton, R.N., B.S.N.--registered nurse, turned entrepreneur. She's the President of Founder of Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating, the revolutionary meal program that has swept the Chicago metropolitan area and captured national attention. Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating has been featured in The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal, Franchising Times, Forbes, Successful American Entrepreneur and hundred of local and national newspapers and publications. The Seattle Suttons's Healthy Eating story has been profiled on several Chicago TV news reports, including NBC-Channel 5, ABC-Channel 7, WGN-TV, CLTV and PAX TV, as well as the subject of radio talk shows around town. National professional, medical and industrial journals and magazines have also featured Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating success. The ultimate compliment was when the business made the cover story of the journal of the American Dietetic Association-- they featured the Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating menu!

Even though Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating has become such a hit, the business's philosophy remains pure and simple--a reflection of its down-home, back-to-basics origins. Seattle Sutton was born in Gackle, North Dakota and is a graduate of Jamestown College in Jamestown, North Dakota. She settled in Marseilles, Illinois, located about 70 miles southwest of Chicago. Her husband, the town physician, and Seattle, a registered nurse, provided nutritional information to patients who needed to lose weight or address health reasons. Ms. Sutton began designing healthy menus for patients. One day a patient said, "If you'd only make the food for me, I'd eat it." So she did. That was in 1985.

Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating began with an investment of $1000 and three employees. The first week, 231 meals were prepared. Recipes were researched, tested and re-tested. Registered dieticians conducted scientific analyses of the SSHE menus. The analysis determined that all meals are low in fat (30% or less of total calories), low in cholesterol (300 milligrams or less), sodium restricted, and meet guidelines established by health and nutrition experts. Seattle Sutton's dedication to health continues today, as all SSHE menus are analyzed on an ongoing basis to ensure that caloric and nutritional standards are met, based on daily averages using the program's complete, five-week menu cycle.

The rest is history! Seattle Sutton's Healthy Eating prepares thousands of fresh meals weekly. Seattle Sutton's innovative approach to successful healthful eating has helped thousands of people achieve and maintain weight loss without the planning, shopping or cooking themselves.
