Summary

The Rainbow Web CDROMThe first book in the Webs to Whales Nature Tales, a series of science-based picture books with interactive, educational CD-ROMs.

The Rainbow Web book and CD-ROM set offers a complete thematic unit for teaching science through literature. Read the enchanting story of a little spider who spins a rainbow web. Then use the enclosed interactive CD-ROM to learn about the fascinating real-life world of spiders. The CD offers narrated lessons and interactive games and activities, as well as reproducible activity pages to supplement the lessons.

The book will engage children’s curiosity about spiders. What do spiders eat? How do they spin webs? Why don’t they spin colored webs? The CD lessons compare spider and insect anatomy and describe types of spiders and webs using actual photographs. Putting together spider puzzles offers lots of challenging fun!

The book’s illustrations introduce the colors of a rainbow, one color at a time. The CD lessons describe primary and secondary colors. A fast-paced game reinforces recognition of basic color words.

Twenty-nine reproducible activities reinforce the lessons and offer mixed practice in math, reading, and science. Try building your own spider or measuring a rainbow.
