The Journey to Xibalba is the story of Edward Amelot, a renowned anthropologist, and his theory that thousands of years before Christ, travelers from the Far East came to Mesoamerica where they met with Maya Indians and shared their knowledge, skills, arts and beliefs. The pursuit of this theory leads Edward on a journey to search for a hidden temple in the jungles of Chiapas, Mexico where he learns of an antediluvian world and culture that has never been explained by the literati of this profession. As he encounters descendants of the ancient Maya he learns that they are intent on preserving the culture of their ancestors in their own domain. He encounters the venerable world of the Ancient Ones the primeval Gods of the Mayas and their world Xibalba; "the Underworld of the Gods", where the Ancient Ones have resided for eternity, only to come forward when they are needed.
When Edward's beautiful daughter Cara does not hear from him she seeks the help of Alek Roman, a retired covert operative for the US Government. Thrown together, Alek and Cara become more than friends as they retrace Edward's trek through the jungle where they encounter local criminals, an avaricious autocrat intent ont eh rebirth of the Third Reich, an advocate of the cause of the Maya people and apparitions of the Ancient Ones.
About the Author
I was born in New York, under the sign of Leo, attended Syracuse University and served in the US Air Force. Career moves took me to New York, California, Illinois, back to New York and eventually to my current home in West Bloomfield, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. I had a successful career in the insurance industry serving in various executive capacities. I left my corporate position and was able to achieve a second career as a business consultant. Now I am on my third career as an author. I am married and enjoy travel, writing, reading, music, sporting events, golf, tennis and being with my family.
A long time dream was to write a novel. The Ancient Ones was born from travels to Mexico during which time a fascination developed with physical features of the mountains, jungles and beaches and the culture of the people.
