He attended the prestigious American Press Institute in Reston, Virginia (1976) and interviewed legendary heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali (September, 1976) prior to his title defense against Ken Norton at New York's Yankee Stadium.
Currently a freelance writer, Bill is a highly-regarded Bruce Springsteen karaoke singer, and the author of two books. He and his wife, Christine have two grown daughters, Tracie and Dawn, and seven grandchildren.
He decided to write "Choices...Memoirs of a Sportswriter" while laying in a hospital bed in the Bronx, New York fighting for his life from alcohol addiction. His second book, "Twenty Nights to Rock...Touring With The Boss" came naturally when he and his wife began to follow Bruce Springsteen on tour in December of 2002.
