Summary

A charge nurse must perform a skillful balancing act each day. They are responsible for many things - managing the patients' medications, treatments, and activities of daily living, managing information so that it is available to the right people at the right time, managing schedules of diagnostic and treatment procedures handled by other departments to fit into the patient's day, managing orientation of a new employee, documenting the status and the care given to the patients, and, of course, managing their time so they can accomplish this and more in the hours allotted. This balancing act is one of the most important things to learn. It can be overwhelming and, at first, may even seem impossible.

This fun and interactive book will provide you, the charge nurse, with some of the tools needed to successfully navigate the path of leadership. The book is filled with inspirational stories, quotes, case studies, helpful hints, self assessments and numerous tips and techniques for success. Most important, the book may serve several purposes. It may serve as a guide for a discussion group, help individuals reflect on their work or simply provide a seasoned charge nurse with additional resources for investigation.
