Summary

The "Seaquel" to 2004's well-received "The Wise Mullet of Cook Bayou" finds Ol' Middler embarking on a harrowing journey along the Gulf Coast to find his long lost mullet buddy Goldie. Ol' Middler's search takes him to the Florida Keys, across the Gulf of Mexico and into the epicenter of a terrible hurricane (Katrina), where he heroically rescues his heartbroken friend Goldie. After a suspenseful escape from flooded New Orleans the two fish friends return safely to Cook Bayou, where Goldie concludes that "nothing is more wondrous than an ever loyal friend."

Gorgeously illustrated over dramatic photos, the pages of "Ol' Middler Saves the Day" blend realism and wonder in a manner that fascinates and captivates a child's interest. It is an epic tale of loyalty, loss, the storm of the century, and how "a hero was born from a small, muddy bayou that fancy fish scorned."

About the Author

Panhandle native Timothy A. Weeks is the author of this 'Seaquel' to 2004's The Wise Mullet of Cook Bayou. This children's book, illustrated by Weeks' mother, is "filled with familiar places and endless wonder," according to Florida Monthly magazine. Living in Amsterdam, Brussels, Bangkok, Frankfurt and Zagreb over the last 10 years as a journalist, Weeks' writings range from high tech investment to restaurant reviews. Weeks, who comes from a proud commercial fishing family, still resides half of the year in Europe as a freelance journalist. Autumn and spring are spent along the Gulf Coast storytelling at schools and cast netting mullet.
