Summary
Macedonia Passage is a modern day sailing adventure with a touch of Balkan politics and a hint of romance.
Captain Frank Brown joins the crew of a private yacht, the schooner Belle Tata, hired to sail across the Atlantic from the West Indies into the Mediterranean and Aegean for the boat's owners. But he has no idea what he's signed on for. The original captain and cook have mysteriously disappeared, a sinister cargo is hidden in the yacht's bilges, and there seems to be no end to the unexplained problems on board.
The cargo is a necessary ingredient of a plot to foment civil war and revolution in Greek Macedonia, allowing a renegade Greek general and a sadistic Bulgarian colonel to carve out their own kingdom. These two are determined that the cargo -- and only the cargo -- reaches its destination: Istanbul.
The beautiful and enigmatic Turkish intelligence agent, Nevser Chase, joins Captain Brown and his crew as they work to figure out just what kind of adventure and danger they're in, who they can trust, and how they can stay alive.

Reviews
"Macedonia Passage is a high-stakes, intricate thriller, filled with memorable characters and explosive action. But what truly sets it apart from the rest of the genre is first-time author Wright Gres' knowledge and love of the high seas, where much of the book is set. The sequences on the ocean come alive with the sure-handed understanding that only one who is intimate with the world of boats and seas can manage. Anyone who has ever spent a minute staring out across the waves and felt the pull of the tides themselves will feel right at home in this novel. That the tale he tells is both topical and devilishly exciting, is an added bonus."
