Summary

Set in 2049, the novel proposes a ‘realistic’ scenario for man’s fledgling exploration of space. The book starts innocently enough with an interesting, if not hypnotic, discovery on Mars. Thereafter it builds into a pacy thriller, encompassing ancient texts, criminal intent, cyber systems, failed relationships and adrenaline filled action sequences. A good deal of the action takes place on Mars, a planet which always fires the imagination and will continue to do so in the coming decades, as the reality of a manned landing draws nearer. However, other locations including the moon, a space station and a revolutionary space ship all help to cement the storyline into an astonishingly realistic yarn.

Excerpt

In the early hours, with the corridors and walkways of Osiris base deserted, someone broke the silence; it was on level one, close to the sickbay. There, a uniformed operative hesitated and checking the room numbers, stopped outside room fourteen. Looking nervously in each direction, he tapped twice on the door; almost immediately it opened and the man slipped quietly inside. The door slid closed behind him, it strangled the light from the corridor until, finally, total darkness engulfed the small room.

‘Give me a break!’ he said in foreign English, his accent thick and heavy. With that, a light came on behind him, its effect weak, like that from a bedside table or a shaving mirror; it served to silhouette him against the door, little else, the remainder of the room still dark and shadowy. The man turned back towards the door.

‘Stay where you are, Mr Dubrovnic,’ the woman’s voice was hard, devoid of emotion, ‘I’ve been expecting you for some time.’

‘I’m late, that’s the way it is!’ he replied, paying little attention to her authoritarian tone.

Customer Reviews

Andrew Marshall clearly has a winner here, this book was quite simply, stunning. The plot, the depth of characters, descriptive content and sheer roller coaster of a storyline, with twists and turns at every corner, made it "unputdownable!"

I'd read the Da Vinci Code the week before, but this knocked spots off it as a thriller, and all round entertainer.

Picture Asimov, Cussler, Higgins, Coonts, mix them together and you have Andrew Marshall - I can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy.

This book transports you effortlessly into the future time life of Richard Reece, an old school fighter pilot, slightly flawed, but a man set apart from others in his perception, integrity and belief in the future of mankind. It is a time of diminishing energy resources and ethics and involves the decoding of messages from ancient civilizations, from the Sumarians to the Rosetta Stone which are a clue to the future survival of man.The plot draws you in so that you can't close the book until you have reached the conclusion which has the ultimate twist. Now I find I must read the next in the trilogy, "The Bastion Prosecutor" to satisfy my curiosity!

A great futuristic thriller with tension, plot and that twist! The author is a very good observer of human nature.I would recommend that you read it.

The book from the very first chapter caught the imagination and i found it difficult to put down.It combines many things we understand today and manages to portray and combine them in the future. The story always made you wonder what was next,i can equate the level of intrigue and excitement to such authors as Dan Brown. Excellent read well reccomended.

I really enjoyed reading "The Osiris Revelations" - indeed once started I found it hard to put it down. I enjoy Sci-Fi and this must be as good as many of those produced by famous authors.

Andrew Marshall lives in beatifull Somerset, he cares about the environment and Mother Earth - and it shows. He gives dire warnings about climate change, dependancy on fossil fuels, the need for re-newable energy sources and the story is very believable. The history aspects are well researched and interesting.

The author is now working on the second of the trilogy and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next.
