Herb Strather’s philanthropic character and fundraising abilities have included working with the powerful National Progressive Baptist Convention (PNBC) as past Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee. Strather currently serves as Chairman of the Budget Committee for the PNBC. In addition to serving on a number of boards and committees, Herb Strather is very active in the Optimist International Club, an organization devoted to empowering young people to be the best they can be. Crediting the organization with “saving his life” as a youth, Strather, a former Governor of the organization has personally built over 115 Optimist Clubs internationally making him the most successful builder of such clubs in the organizations history. In support of his commitment to the Optimist Youth Club, Strather personally pledged $1 million to the organization fulfilling that pledge in 1999. A philanthropist and devoted advocate of the community, Herb Strather teaches real estate classes on his ‘off time’ at a local college.
