Mark has cooked with Katie Couric on the Today Show, Been on Good Morning America, the fanous Hawaii Hari's Kitchen. Mark most recently has cooked personally for His Holiness the Dalai Lama for two days in a row while His Holiness was speaking on Maui. Mark was also featured in the Cookbook, New Cuisine of Hawaii featuring the 12 chefs of Hawaii Regional Cuisine where Mark's signature dish was featured on the cover. Mark continues to be involved in every part of his 12 restaurants in Hawaii, from his small home on Maui, where he watches the slopes of the West Maui Mountains from one window and the other window he sees the Pacific Ocean and the island of Lanai. About the Author
Mark Ellman has been cooking professionally since the age of 13 in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles. His first job was flipping burgers and by the age of 18 Mark was working at a little French Bistro in Los Angeles called Yellowfingers where he discovered the tastes of Europe and found his calling, Cooking. mark's first place was called Cuisine Cuisine at the age of 21 where he specialized in Homemade pasta and simple home cooked foods. Mark went on to being one of the busiest caterers in Los Angeles cooking for the music industry, where he cooked for Ronnie and HUbert Laws, The Moody Blues, Frankie Vallie, Earth Wind and Fire, The Beach Boys, The Grateful Dead, Iggy Pop and even Bob Dylan. Mark eventually left LA to move to that tropical island, called Maui in 1985. He opened the famous Avalon , Maui Tacos and Mala Ocean Tavern. Mark Lives happily in Maui with his wife, Judy, of 30 years and his three children who all work in the business, Tina, Ariana and Michelle.
