Summary
Do you wonder what the dog really thinks of you, or why the cat hides in the closet, or how the horse knows you’re feeling sad? SILENT WORDS: Animals Speak from the Heart will give you the answers. The stories in this book are true. Some will cause a chuckle, some will raise an eyebrow, and some will make you reach for the box of tissues. They will inform, entertain and, yes, even amaze you. And when you have finished reading, you will know that Fluffy or Fuzzy or Fifi is more than just an animal companion. You will know because the stories are in their words - and from their hearts.
When I talked to her, the little Lab had all kinds of excuses about “failing” guide dog training. “They were too fussy and they kept repeating things and I got bored and they wouldn’t let me do what I wanted to do and I really wanted to come back here and go swimming in the pool,” she said slyly. Then she revealed the real truth: “I knew my Mom would need me when Toby crossed over to the other side.”
Most of the stories are short and are divided into chapters about everyday things, such as getting lost, what tastes good, and having a job. Of special note is the section concerning rescued animals: have your hanky ready. What about non-domesticated creatures? There’s a chapter revealing a series of conversations with the residents of a wolf sanctuary, and another disclosing the thoughts of those who inhabit a zoo. And finally, the book covers the more practical side of guardianship: advice on improving relationships with your animal companions. Are you ready for the journey into their minds - and hearts?
About the Author
Animal communicator Cindy Wood has been using her special gift to help people understand their pets for nearly 30 years. Animals communicate by sending and receiving mental pictures. A few humans have the gift of mental telepathy, and they can participate in this communication process with animals. Cindy Wood possesses that gift, along with the skills necessary to translate those pictures into words. She has clients - many of whom she’s never met in person -- around the country. She works extensively with rescue groups, veterinarians, and animals following natural disasters. Cindy Wood is the real deal. Merry Shelburne is not an animal communicator, but she holds an M.A. degree in mass communications and is the author of a college PR textbook in its second edition. She is a PR consultant, a writer, and teaches college courses online. Shelburne, her husband, and their two Golden Retrievers are clients of Cindy Wood.
