Summary
This book is designed to read exactly as it was told in a series of afternoons in that Little Rock den and a few local eateries and watering holes, and again in Tennessee and Seattle not as academic case studies or a lecture, but two amazing stories of real life American Dreams, and the running commentary and wisdom of a man who not only witnessed those stories, but as an advisor to these entrepreneurs and their Dream (which, as you will see, often entered nightmare territory), he was an integral part of them. In its own way, this book is a conversation between the two of us; a seasoned 80-year-old retired CEO and a 40-something writer who suddenly realizes for the first time, he’s never been anything but an entrepreneur. And in the end, this book is what Web and I believe to be not only the wisest and surest path to success and true life riches, but the one true answer to this god-awful economic mess in which this country finds itself in 2009: CHARACTER. In the course of listening to these two stories, I kept hearing the same words, the same principles again and again as these guys faced adversity and challenges that most of us would have just withered under. Words that don’t show up all that much in textbooks and magazines and business shows, but boy they oughta, Integrity, Honesty, Transparency, Tenacity, TRUST.
