Foreword
There are many books on exercise, meditation, and health that treat each in detail from the
author’s point of view. These are all very helpful in their own way. As a martial artist searching
for the path to expand his own boundaries, these books always struggle with the way to
make their path yours, give an incomplete picture on how to accomplish your goals, and if
one is successful it is usually brief. In essence they provide an incomplete picture of an incomplete
path. A holistic point of view is needed to show one a path to continually expand
his or her boundaries. It needs to address the strengths and weaknesses of one’s mind, body,
and their journey together since they are not separate. Ark provides such a path in great
detail in this book.
For me as a martial artist, the focus of my fitness training has been on combat-oriented
movements with weights, which has resulted in sharpened techniques, increased speed,
more energy, and increased sensitivity. The increased stamina has allowed me to expand
my exercise routine in all areas. I noticed some immediate changes in my body and mind.
The most enjoyable aspect of my training is the variety and difficulty of exercises, which
concentrate on my weaknesses.
The attention to the proper form of each exercise was a significant factor in my improvement
but an exercise is not useful without the mindfulness to push one to accomplish it. The
benefits of increased health are incomplete without the enjoyment of accomplishing physically
and mentally challenging activities. The mind cannot be sharpened without the body
taking part. These are the tools that Ark provides to be a warrior in all aspects of the word.
