Reviews

“Creative perseverance-these are words I would use to describe Lindsey McGraw’s book.  All nurses have tales to tell, and McGraw’s versions will have your belly laughing, your ears steaming and your warm heart beating in time with her anecdotes.  She does a remarkable job of shining a light on the important relationships that support and influence nurses on their mission of nurturing.  McGraw uses examples of her family, her colleagues, and of course her patients, in the saga of her developing nursing career.  I enthusiastically imagine her next project will be bathed in the creative perseverance of her nurses’ personality, and eagerly look forward to more of her wisdom!”

— Sue Tobin, R.N., Coach for Nurses

I laughed out loud so many times.  McGraw is gifted when it comes to story telling.  I truly loved it.  So…funny!

— Margaret S.

“Read with caution…I laughed so hard my kegel exercises almost failed me.”

— Bonnie, R.N.

“I met the author while she was working at the nursing home where my father was a resident.  After reading her book it made me realize what a crazy way you have to look at life, and what a sense of humor is needed to survive geriatric nursing!”

— Sharon S.

The author takes the reader along in her quest to become a “Florence,” sharing the ups and downs experienced in schooling, beginning nursing jobs, and life in general.  Inter-spursed are personal experiences to include humorous situations, stories, and nurse-type jokes that may well have been the result of over indulgence in “stress management.”  She lived life!  Lindsey’s humor and caring attitude is obvious throughout as she finally finds her niche in the field of geriatrics.  Those under her care were, I believe, fortunate.  I found the book to be informative, interesting, and fun.

— Ron, USMC, Retired

Laughed till I cried.  A hilarious look into the private unknown world of an adventurous, loving, free-spirited nurse and her many faceted life experiences.  Great read!!

— Diane G.

About the Author

After twenty-eight years of "humpin’ the halls" as an Associate Degree RN, Lindsey McGraw awoke one morning, placed her arthritic legs and bent and paralyzed body parts on the floor, and found that her brain had turned to mush and a cup of coffee was in order before she could function on any level. Yet a glimmer of light flickered in her mind, even with all the craziness this profession can bring on in any given eight- or twelve-hour shift—a book needed to be written to lighten the moods of fellow colleagues. After a life-altering experience, her career options were limited, and she made the decision to enter management in the long-term care area—a job she would not trade for anything in the world.
