About the Author
Doug Briggs is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS,*D) with the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and a NSCA Fly Solor Mentor. Doug has been involved in strength & conditioning for over 30 years. He is a competitive Olympic-style weightlifter who won the 2002 & 2005 Pan American Masters Weightlifting Championships, setting a new Pan American Masters Snatch Record in 2002. Doug also won the 2005 and 2007 USA Weightlifting Masters National Championships. He has held over 100 state records in Olympic style weightlifting. Doug is currently the Director of Human Performance for the US Army Morale, Welfare, & Recreation (MWR) activity at Fort Bliss, Texas. He is also a faculty member at New Mexico State University. Subjects he teaches or has taught include anatomy, motor development, principles of strength & conditioning, personal training, tests & measurements, as well as beginning, intermediate, advanced, and women's weight training. He has also taught Olympic-style weightlifting. Doug has written for numerous magazines including Pure Power Magazine, Bliss NOW, and the Army Times to name a few.
