Chapter 1

Your thoughts are who you are. You are a state of mind and your identity is designed and structured by your mind. Your ideas define the world that you see and they shape your body. Your body then sustains you physically. Your ideas are your thoughts. Everything that you see is a concept of what you want to see, and in that sense, the world is the concept of each mind within each form. Therefore, the mind, the thought and the self are constantly questioning you.

Ideas and thought have no form. They are not tangible, but they represent the world of form with which you associate. Each passing moment your mind has a different thought. You cannot see your thoughts and you cannot touch your ideas, but you can truly believe in then when you want to believe in them. You believe what you want to believe. You believe in what you consider to be true. Knowledge re-enforces your conviction.

You are your thoughts. Your thoughts are always with you and they remain within you even if they seem to pass. Have you questioned when or what your first thought was? You do not remember your first thoughts because your awareness is captivated in your present thoughts, fully occupied, responding to your senses. You were told of your first step and of your first word when you were a child but not of your first thought. Your thoughts are your very own. No one else sees your thoughts and that is why no one can tell you about your first thoughts.

When you were born, you did not recognize the world that you experienced. You learned about the value of every object in your surroundings and you learned the functions of your body. You learned other people's conceptions about the world because you were not capable of learning on your won, and as you grew up you created your own perceptions. In a clear sense, what you believe you know are concepts of other minds expressing their own thoughts.

You do have a first thought. That thought did not begin at any given points. It has always been and it has never changed. All the thoughts that go through your mind and that go back to ancient times are memories that serve to avoid that one simple, pure, unchangeable and perfect thought.
