Marshall talked with the grieving mother parrot and expressed his deep sadness for her loss. He vowed that a hunt would begin that very night. Marshall McCaw bowed like the parrot gentleman that he was and then was off. It was time to organize the hunt. The Rainforest Community was lucky to have a wise and courageous bird like Marshall McCaw. He had made the forest a safer and more civilized place for all. Marshall began by informing his Patrol that it was time to start brainstorming. All ideas were welcomed and needed. He warned his Patrol that this would be a test of all their skills and courage. Max, Marshall’s best Patrol Bird, was the first to share a possible plan of attack.

It was thrown into the ring of Patrol Members, chewed on, snipped at and squawked about! Other ideas followed, and it was clear to Marshall why these were the birds chosen to be here today. He perched tall on the buttress root overlooking the group of dedicated birds in what had become their place. Benches and benches of buttress roots from the big, old rainforest tree towered over the river, kept company by many smaller fruit trees. This was their place, Patrol Central. Marshall felt proud of the Patrol. They had learned to work well in the three years that they had been together. The Patrol had become a force of good throughout the Forest Canopy.
