Yuri Bast, ASID
Yuri Bast Interior Design, Inc.
Though she originally planned to be a fine artist, Korean-born Yuri Bast eventually majored in interior design, transforming all her creative energies onto a different set of canvases. And she's having a devil of a good time with the details.
After college, Yuri worked for both residential and commercial design firms. Since opening her own company three years ago, her clientele have ranged from commercial projects, such as golf course clubhouses, real estate development information centers and restaurants, to residential redesigns and remodels.
Though her own design sensibilities run toward the contemporary, she'll gladly blend the colors and textures in her palette to fit the tastes of her clients. Currently, Yuri is designing a country club in an elegant Mediterranean style, while another commercial project is being adorned in a timelessly enchanting Santa Barbara motif, and still a third space is being decorated in a fashion that's extremely modern. "I try to create a space where everyone can feel at home," says Yuri. "Offices don't have to be sterile, with a bunch of cubicles and florescent lights. I try to create an enjoyable, pleasant environment."
