Cal Byers was born in North Carolina. After college, with a degree in art, he became the creative art director for his own agency for twenty-six years. Being responsible for hundreds of advertising campaigns from conception to print, he became proficient, not only with the visual effect of printed material, but also with the written word. Over the years he has written countless magazine articles, newspaper articles and brochures throughout the southeast.
In 1990, Cal published a successful series of children's books, which he wrote and illustrated. More recently, he published Esteva, a 423 page suspense-thriller with a dash of romance featuring many memorable characters. With his easy style of writing, Esteva was a big success in the Caribbean where he has lived for over a decade. Much of his inspiration comes from the beauty of the islands and the colorful people who reside there.
Cal Byers is also well known in the islands for his watercolor paintings where he exhibits his paintings in galleries, resorts, and art shows. The success of his first novel is a natural complement to his well-established art career.
In April 2006 his second novel, Last Breath was released and is available
now. His next novel, Track Down, is a sequel to Last Breath and will be
available in late fall. Presently he lives in North Carolina and the
Bahamas.
