In writing Threads of Passion, author Holly Hayes has drawn on a wealth of personal experience from a rich and varied life. Journalist and educator; business executive, and community leader; wife, mother, and lover – she's done it all. Holly Hayes understands the needs, passions and conflicts of women who must balance myriad conflicting demands to gain the fulfillment they seek. In her novel, Threads of Passion, Hayes writes lyrically and empathetically of the turning points in a woman's life. She takes her reader on a journey of discovery with her protagonist, Lexi Lankford, as she explores how sensuality can fuel her dreams and ultimately help her achieve the balance and harmony she seeks. Achieving balance in her own life has been a full-time job for Holly Hayes. She holds a master's degree in world literature from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Yale University's School of Management. She has held jobs in different professions all over the world: as a columnist for The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, a high school literature teacher in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and a corporate development executive at Viacom, Field Enterprises, and Kraft Foods. She and her husband have three sons. "I inherited balance. Holding on to it has been a wild ride. At every challenging juncture, I've followed my heart," says Hayes. As a wife and mother, Hayes believes that education is society's best gift to its children, and she has given generously of her talents to enhance and enrich the learning experience. She spent eight years on her local school board, ultimately serving as its president. Holly also helped the Chicago Shakespeare Company develop one of Chicago's model outreach programs to impress on students the power of great stories. Hayes was inspired to write Threads of Passion by the dearth of novels for women that explore the connection between spirituality and sensuality in a woman's life. "Women of all ages look at sensuality in a new way, but don't often talk about it with others. As women express themselves sensually, they are often disappointed," Hayes believes. "Pain, betrayal and heartache are all too common, and diminish sensuality. Threads of Passion gives women a different vision, and shows how a broadened sensuality makes life richer." |
