Here is a beautiful success story of a family successfully integrating into a plain Mennonite church community. Becky with her husband Joe and their four children grew up in the large city of Buffalo, New York. As their neighborhood digressed and became more and more dangerous, they sought the Lord’s guidance for the physical andspiritual well being of their family. Through an amazing chain of events they found themselves first in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, then later in the mountains of Pocahontas County in West Virginia where they serve the Lord in the small Boyer Hill Mennonite Church. Becky is adept at portraying embarrassing and difficult experiences with humor. You will be laughing out loud as she colorfully tells her story.

Price: $5.99
ISBN: 978-0-9717054-9-4

“My bags are packed, I am ready to go.” These were the words of Ervin N. Hershberger when he was asked how he was. He was a man of prayer and a man of the Book. This book reflects his life. He saw this work as his last testament on earth. Upon hearing of his death, the publisher wondered where the manuscript was. His daughter looked for it but could not find it. The day following his funeral, it showed up at the publisher’s mailbox with Hershberger’s final corrections. God’s Wake-up Call represents a summary of Hershberger’s life-time of study in the book of Hebrews. The applications to the contemporary scene are pertinent and much needed in the church today. The book reveals the author’s deep concern that people understand the need to follow God fully. In ten penetrating chapters, the author warns, instructs, and admonishes the reader in the “most holy faith.” He who earnestly reads is wise.

The Happening

Price: $11.99
ISBN: 978-1-932676-26-6

October 2 will be a date long remembered by the Nickel Mines community of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. For it was on this date that 10 young Amish school girls were gunned down in their one-room school by a local father deranged by troubling events in his own life. The terrible event captured the attention of the world as it dramatically unfolding through the cameras of the news media. It was just another Monday morning, albeit an exceptionally lovely one. The people of Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania, went about their daily lives, tending their farms and heading off to work or school. Only one man had any idea what this particular Monday would hold - one man and the God in whom he no longer believed. The author chose to tell this gripping story through the eyes of an imaginary character, “Rebecca Sue,” who is a compilation of the survivors of the shooting. Although based on a true event, Rebecca Sue and her feelings and emotions are fictitious. The tragedy of October 2, 2006 gripped the local community and the world, just as this book will grip the reader.

The Harmonia Sacra
Joseph Funk
To Order
Price: $16.99
ISBN: 978-1-932676-15-0

For music lovers, The Harmonia Sacra is a hymn book of renown. In 1832 a Mennonite named Joseph Funk published a songbook that would have a profound influence on Mennonite singing for generations to come. Its name, Genuine Church Music indicated the compiler’s intention that the contents be songs that, in his words, “have stood the test of time and survived the changes of fashion.” Its distinctive shape notes of the fasola system linked it with dozens of songbooks published in America at the time to encourage musical literacy. The variety of musical content, ranging from simple psalm tunes and American folk melodies to complex early American anthems, offered ideal materials for singing schools. Funk’s book was accepted immediately. Within fifteen years, four editions had been published and 28,000 copies sold. The twenty-fourth edition (1980) changed the entire format, from a horizontal to a vertical, hymnal-type book. Even more striking was the exchanging of soprano and tenor voices, making the notation match the practice of Harmonia Sacra singers in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, where sopranos sing the tenor melody and tenors take the accompanying soprano line. By changing the format and the tenor and soprano voices the Legacy Edition conformed to the intent of Joseph Funk that the Harmonia Sacra would perpetuate singing within the congregated church. The Harmonia Sacra is still used in old-folks’ all day singings in Rockingham and adjacent sections. In fact interest in singing from this book inspired the Legacy Edition of The Harmonia Sacra that produced a style better suited for congregational singings. This edition here presented is the revised Legacy Edition, making it the 27th edition of The Harmonia Sacra.
